Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 05/03/2026

1. Scope and precedence

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to every booking made through Área Events ("Área", "the Platform"). The cancellation schedule in Section 3 governs all bookings on the Platform. Venue and service partners may publish additional house rules on their listings, but those rules may not reduce or contradict the refund rights set out in this Policy. Where a listing's stated terms conflict with this Policy, this Policy prevails.

2. Deposits

Where a Partner requires a deposit to secure a date, that deposit is non-refundable once the booking is confirmed. The deposit compensates the Partner for holding the date and turning away other inquiries. Deposits are returned only where Section 5, Section 6 or Section 8 applies.

3. Customer cancellation schedule

  • 30 days or more before the event: 100% refund of the booking amount, less the platform service fee and any non-refundable deposit.
  • 14 to 29 days before the event: 50% refund of the booking amount, less the platform service fee and any non-refundable deposit.
  • Less than 14 days before the event: no refund.

Time is measured from the scheduled start of the event, in Atlantic Standard Time.

4. Platform service fee

Área charges a service fee of 5% to 8% of the booking value. This fee is non-refundable, except where Área cancels, where the Partner cancels under Section 5, or where a technical or billing error resulted in an incorrect charge.

5. Partner cancellation

If a Partner cancels a confirmed booking, the customer receives a 100% refund of everything paid, including the deposit and the platform service fee. Área may recover the refunded amount from the Partner's future payouts. Repeated cancellations may result in suspension or removal from the Platform.

6. Rescheduling and material changes

If a Partner reschedules or materially changes a booking — the date, the time, the capacity, or the facilities and services described in the listing — the customer may either accept the revised booking or request a full refund, including the deposit and the service fee, within 48 hours of being notified.

7. Booking requests awaiting approval

Some listings require the Partner's approval before a booking is confirmed. No payment is taken while a request is pending. If the Partner declines the request, or does not respond before the requested date, no charge is made and nothing is owed.

8. Force majeure

Where an event cannot proceed because of circumstances beyond either party's reasonable control — including hurricanes, severe weather, government orders, or the loss of essential utilities — Área will work with the customer and the Partner toward a fair outcome, which may include rescheduling or a partial or full refund. These cases are assessed individually.

9. How to request a refund

Write to contact@areavents.com with your booking reference and the reason for the request. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the credit to your account.

10. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this Policy limits any right you may have under the consumer protection laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
